San Francisco's Most Stylish Home Design Shops

Since all anyone is thinking or talking about is Corona virus, I thought you might want to drift back to LAST WEEK (feels like lifetime ago!) & my dreamy trip to San Francisco….I was there for the Design Influencers Conference, which was amazing, and it gave me chance to check out some really unique home design shops. Let’s go!

First up, I popped into March (3075 Sacramento Street, SF), which specializes in kitchen & pantry design but ALSO carries beautiful art and accessories.

As you can see above, there is a great emphasis on original and handmade pieces - all beautifully merchandised. Below is just one of several paintings that tempted me….

I’m obsessed with Scandinavia these days & am hoping to go in the next year —the dinnerware below is what I see when I dream of kitchens in Sweden or Denmark (no clue if I’m right but they’re gorgeous in any case!).

Just a short walk from there you’ll find the lovely shop of Margaret Ash Design & Home (3236 Sacramento Street, SF)….

I could literally have bought everything in the store if my suitcase/wallet/space would allow — it was that perfect mix of unfussy antiques, modern bohemian accents, one of a kind textiles & accessories….

AND - they had these cool little paintings that you could buy individually or framed….I just loved the whole feeling in this shop - from accessible art to super friendly & helpful staff. I wish I had more time there but will DEF make a point to return!

An oldie but goodie - Sue Fisher King (3067 Sacramento Street, SF) - which my friend Gail patiently took me to some 25 yrs ago & has been a continual favorite of mine.

The shop is brimming with all kinds of colorful, optimistic-looking dinnerware & books - even the packages of candy & chocolates (below) are stylish & cheerful! (The store’s soundtrack of Broadway show tunes only accentuated the feel good vibes:)

Next up: Serena & Lily’s design shop (3457 Sacramento Street), which I can never ever pass by. I’m putting together gallery wall for our “bunk room” in New Hampshire, so this display caught my eye….

Serena & Lily’s new “Watson Slipper Chair” is divine — it’s as generous & plush-feeling to sit in as a club chair, but has a more spare silhouette which is great for smaller places or as an accent chair. I’m in LOVE with it!!

I can’t finish this post without putting a spotlight on the Queen of Sacramento Street herself - interior design star & author (Travel Home) Caitlin Flemming who pens the hugely popular Sacramento Street blog. I actually sat next to her mom, Julie (who co-authored Travel Home) & got to meet Caitlin a couple times during the 3-day conference, including after she was interviewed on stage by Nate Berkus - which was incredible! She is the real deal.

Lastly, a view from the Top of the Mark Hotel, where my husband & I met up for a drink after my last event…..goodbye for now, San Francisco - I look forward to the next visit!

Hope everyone is staying healthy & safe — Spring can’t get here fast enough, am I right?!

Cheers,
